چکیده

We present high resolution (R ∼ 44,000) UVES spectra of the eclipsing premain sequence star KH 15D covering the wavelength range 4780 to 6810 Å obtained at three phases: out of eclipse, near minimum light and during egress. The system evidently acts like a natural coronagraph, enhancing the contrast relative to the continuum of hydrogen and forbidden emission lines during eclipse. At maximum light the Hα equivalent width was ∼2 Å and the profile showed broad wings and a deep central absorption. During egress the equivalent width was much higher (∼70 Å) and the broad wings, which extend to ± 300 km/s, were prominent. During eclipse totality the equivalent width was less than during Based on Ultraviolet-Visual Echelle Spectrograph observations collected at the European Southern Observatory’s Very Large Telescope via Director’s Discretionary Time, within the observing program P267.C5736. The unique eclipsing, weak-lined T Tauri star KH 15D has been detected as an X-ray source in a 95.7 ks exposure from the Chandra X-ray Observatory archives. A maximum X-ray luminosity of 1.5 ×10 29 erg s −1 is derived in the 0.5– 8 keV band, corresponding to L X /L bol = 7.5 × 10 −5. Comparison with samples of stars of similar effective temperature in NGC 2264 and in the Orion Nebula Cluster sh...

Spectroscopy of Molecular Hydrogen Emission from Kh 15d

We report infrared spectroscopy of the unusual eclipsing pre–main-sequence object KH 15D, obtained using NIRSPEC on Keck II. During eclipse, observations using low spectral resolution ( ) reveal the presence l/dl ∼ 1000 of prominent molecular hydrogen emission in five lines near 2 mm. The relative line strengths are consistent with thermal excitation at K. Observations out of eclipse, at both l...

A Simplified Solution for Advection Dominated Accretion Flows with Outflow

The existence of outflow in the advection dominated accretion flows has been confirmed by both numerical simulations and observations. The outow models for ADAF have been investigated by several groups with a simple self similar solution. But this solution is inaccurate at the inner regions and can not explain the emitted spectrum of the flow; so, it is necessary to obtain a global solution for...

Bipolar Jets Produced by a Spectroscopic Binary

We present evidence that the spectroscopically identified bipolar jets of the pre-main sequence binary KH 15D (P=48.4 d, ǫ ∼0.6, periastron separation ∼18 RA, MA=0.6M⊙, MB=0.7M⊙) are a common product of the whole binary system, rather than being launched from either star individually. They may be launched from the innermost part of the circumbinary disk (CBD) or may result from the merging of t...
